Overview
This project was a laboratory analysis system designed to detect air leaks in parts by monitoring pressure change. The system was built around an Omron pressure sensor, an op-amp circuit to process the sensor's signal, and an ESP32 C3-based microcontroller. We completed the engineering calculations and reviewed the connection schematic multiple times, then selected and sourced every component in the circuit — sensor, op-amp, and microcontroller — along with backups.
Goals and Objectives
Our customer wanted to integrate a pressure sensor they'd previously used and trusted in a different application into a new laboratory system for detecting air leaks. Our goal was to design a circuit that could accurately process the sensor's small signal for reliable, repeatable pressure readings, and source every component needed.
Development Process
Keeping the pressure sensor the customer had already used and trusted, we selected an op-amp and microcontroller compatible with it, choosing a DIP-8 package op-amp for easier prototyping. After reviewing the connection schematic in detail several times, we sourced every component, including the sensor, along with backups in case of failure.
